Microneedling sounds scary, right? Puncturing your face with a bunch of needles over and over again doesn’t exactly sound like a good way to spend an afternoon. However, the benefits can be huge and the treatment really isn’t that bad.
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is one type of collagen induction therapy. The procedure involves puncturing your skin with tiny needles in order to stimulate your skin to increase collagen production through the skin’s healing process. Microneedling is typically performed on the face but you can have it done on any part of your body where you have trouble spots.
Does it hurt?
Prior to your procedure, you will get a numbing cream. This helps to reduce the sensation from the needles. Many people still say they feel a little pinch but that it’s very mild.
Is there a down time? How long until I’m healed?
Microneedling is a non-invasive procedure with minimal downtime. Typically, patients are healed up and ready to go within 24 hours. In that first 24 hour period, we do ask that you avoid wearing make up but after that time frame you can go back to your normal routines. With laser resurfacing it can be 10 days or more for full recovery and with some intense chemical peels it can be up to 3 weeks!
