Botox, Dysport, or Jeuveau? Here’s What You Actually Need to Know

If you’ve ever thought about wrinkle relaxers, chances are you’ve heard of Botox — and probably assumed that’s the only option. But there’s a whole world beyond just one brand, and it doesn’t have to be confusing.

At Renovaré, we love helping clients cut through the noise and feel confident about their choices. So let’s break this down — no fluff, no pressure, just real info from someone who actually uses these products (yes, I get Tox too).

First: Why Is Everything Called “Botox”?

Botox was the first wrinkle relaxer to hit the market in the U.S., so its name stuck — kind of like how people say “Band-Aid” or “Kleenex,” even if they’re using a totally different brand. So when someone says they’ve had “Botox,” it doesn’t always mean they got Botox-brand.

These days, there are a few other FDA-approved options that work just as well — and in some cases, even better. But because they all do the same basic thing (relax facial muscles to smooth out lines), people often lump them together under the term “Botox.”

Let’s talk about what makes each one different.

What All Wrinkle Relaxers Have in Common

Whether we’re talking about Botox, Dysport, or Jeuveau, they all:

  • Use botulinum toxin type A to temporarily relax facial muscles

  • Smooth lines like forehead wrinkles, frown lines, and crow’s feet

  • Are safe, FDA-approved, and effective when administered properly

  • Last around 3–4 months on average

But there are key differences in how they feel, how they work, and how quickly you see results.

Botox: The Original

Botox has been around since the '90s, and it’s still the most widely known name in the wrinkle-relaxing game. It typically kicks in within 4–7 days, and full results show around the two-week mark. It’s a solid option — especially for people who know and love it.

That said, some people find it feels a little heavier or doesn’t last as long as they hoped. And if you’ve tried it in the past but weren’t thrilled with your results, that’s a good reason to explore the newer options.

Dysport: The Quick Spreader

Dysport is a bit faster-acting — sometimes kicking in within 2–3 days. It also spreads more easily under the skin, which can be a bonus for treating broader areas like the forehead. But in smaller areas that require precision, that extra spread isn’t always a plus.

One thing to know: Dysport uses a different unit measurement than Botox or Jeuveau. You’ll often see a higher number of units used, but it’s just math — not more product or stronger results.

Jeuveau: The One I Choose

Jeuveau wrinkle relaxer at Renovate Aesthetics and Wellness in Sunbury, Ohio — a modern alternative to Botox designed exclusively for cosmetic use.

Now let’s talk about Jeuveau — my personal favorite, and the one I choose when I get Tox myself.

Jeuveau was developed specifically for cosmetic use (no medical side uses like sweating or migraines), and I’ve found it gives a smooth, natural result that my clients — and I — love.

Here’s why I like it:

  • It tends to kick in a little faster, usually around 2–4 days

  • It feels lighter — meaning you still have natural movement, just with fewer lines

  • Clients often tell me they feel refreshed but not frozen

  • It blends really well into your natural expressions

If you’ve tried Botox and weren’t completely sold, Jeuveau might just be the wrinkle relaxer that finally feels right.

The truth is, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. What works best depends on your facial anatomy, how your muscles move, and what kind of result you’re looking for.

That’s why we talk through all of it during your consultation. You don’t need to know every technical detail — that’s what I’m here for — but you should feel confident in what you’re choosing.

And now? You do.
